Engineering Manager
The world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service is looking for a Engineering Manager to join the band in a consultant assignment. The client has transformed music listening forever when launched in 2008.
Period: 2026-01-19 to 2026-07-18 (full-time), with a possibility of extension.
About the role
The Content & Catalogue Management (CoCaM) team builds the infrastructure, tools, and processes that make it possible to manage content changes at scale while balancing risk and compliance. The team focuses on three key areas: content moderation, intellectual property protection, and catalogue management. This work ensures harmful or infringing material is handled appropriately, catalogues remain accurate, and operational teams can work efficiently so the platform continues to support creators, protect rights, and provide value to listeners.
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team building our client’s centralized system for defining, managing, and distributing content policies at scale. In this role, you’ll partner closely with policy experts, legal teams, and product stakeholders to design and evolve a robust rules management platform that improves how rules are configured, maintained, and applied across our client’s content catalogue. You’ll guide and support a team of engineers, fostering an empathetic, inclusive, and high-trust environment where people can do their best work. By combining technical leadership with a deep commitment to collaboration, you’ll enable policy owners to respond quickly to new requirements, reduce compliance risk, and deliver consistent, transparent content governance that supports our client’s mission to provide a safe and trusted experience for listeners and creators worldwide.
What you'll do
Support and Develop People: Help build and support a healthy team of engineers. Run regular 1:1s, give feedback, and encourage professional growth through learning and development opportunities. Learn and practice our client’s Performance Development model while fostering inclusion and psychological safety.
Enable Execution and Delivery: Oversee day-to-day delivery, making sure the team ships work on time and at quality. Support the team in following sound engineering practices and championing operational excellence, while helping them make clear trade-offs in ambiguous situations.
Support Domain and Squad Focus: Partner with Product Managers, technical leads, and peers to keep priorities clear and aligned with CoCaM’s objectives. Guide the team to stay problem-focused-thinking about evolving systems and long-term solutions rather than only project delivery.
Foster Collaboration: Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team environment where engineers feel empowered to share fresh perspectives, communicate ideas clearly, and challenge assumptions. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and peers across the company to ensure alignment.
Adapt and Learn: Model adaptability and flexibility by stepping in where needed and helping the team adjust to changing priorities. Use this interim opportunity to learn how to lead through uncertainty, take ownership across different situations, and develop judgment in high-ambiguity contexts.
Provide Technical Context: While not expected to code, bring technical understanding to discussions. Challenge the team on design decisions, support quality strategies, and help connect technical work to product impact.
Communicate and Align: Share progress, challenges, and outcomes with stakeholders across squads, the PA, and company. Help the team explain not just what they delivered, but why it matters.
Who you are
You are new or relatively new to engineering management and see this interim role as an opportunity to grow into the craft.
You care deeply about people: you want to support engineers in their growth, build inclusion and psychological safety, and learn how to navigate different team dynamics.
You are adaptable and flexible: comfortable stepping into new domains, adjusting to shifting priorities, and wearing multiple hats when needed.
You can make sound judgment calls even when things aren’t fully clear, and you’re learning how to guide teams through ambiguous situations.
You communicate clearly and effectively, making sure your ideas are heard and understood, and you help others do the same.
You are problem-focused rather than project-focused: curious about how systems evolve and how technical work connects to product impact and business value.
You are collaborative at scale: eager to work across squad boundaries, partner with peers, and bring a wider perspective into CoCaM.
You have a solid technical background and can engage in system design and quality discussions, even if you’re not coding day-to-day.
