The world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the band in a consultant assignment. The client has transformed music listening forever when launched in 2008.

Period: ASAP to 2nd July 2026 (full-time), with a possibility of extension.

About the role

We are seeking a collaborative and curious contractor to help drive and develop our client's VCS infrastructure forward.

What you'll do

• Execute on our client's future VCS infrastructure strategy that is able to serve 3000+ engineers doing 100’s of thousands of builds daily and beyond

• Support with Operational tasks keeping our systems healthy and uptodate

• Develop backend systems to enable automate and enable developers to build and deliver software more efficiently

• Drive the automation and improvements of their chosen VCS across their current technical stacks

• Collaborate with Infrastructure teams across the company to discover what a best in class VCS infrastructure means

Who you are

• You are an experienced engineering familiar with Linux and Networking fundamentals

• You are an experienced Software Engineer with Java

• You have experience deploying to and implementing solutions in GCP or AWS.

• You believe in iteration and know that finding the right solution is more important than the first.

• You like to focus on standardization and automation; always looking for ways to improve the developer experience

• You have 6+ years of experience in building and implementing large-scale systems across various projects and teams

• You have familiarity with and enthusiasm for software engineering best practices such as testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  

Skills

• Linux system experience

• Java Backend development experience

• AI experience is a must

• HTTP / networking 

• Google Cloud (preferred) / AWS  Kubernetes 

• Github (Administration / Operations), Gitlab would be advantageous

• Git expert

• Data experience - would be helpful
