The world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service is looking for a Taxonomist to join the band in a consultant assignment. The client has transformed music listening forever when launched in 2008.

Period: ASAP with a six-month contract (full-time), with a possibility of extension.

We’re looking for a taxonomist to join our client's small, central team. You’ll help bring coherence to the experience and accuracy to classification by applying your expertise in information structures. This is a role that will collaborate closely with partners in Editorial, Engineering, Product Management, Editorial Systems Platform and beyond. This role helps ensure discovery is effective, safe, culturally relevant and enjoyable for users.

What you'll do

• Evolve and maintain taxonomies
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and coordinate alignment with stakeholders
• Design models that represent specialized knowledge and points of view, with the flexibility to cover a growing set of global contexts and content domains
• Maintain mappings between datasets
• Participate in cross-funcitonal groups for governing change

Who you are

• Have a degree in library or information science
• Experience developing taxonomies
• Background in media
• Experience using book publishing industry schemas (BISAC, Thema)
• Familiarity with taxonomy management platforms using standards (RDF)
• Comfortable working with distributed teams across multiple timezones
